Why do I write? The answer is complex.
There's the joy of escaping to a world where everything is just as I want it to be, where heroes triumph, and weird, fantastic creatures live.
There is also the challenge, much like the man who enjoys golf, to make it right, to perfect your craft and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you did it well.
And there is also the joy and extreme pleasure one gets from reading your stories and poems to others and experiencing their enjoyment of what you've created.
Lastly there is the chance of monetary reward. Some might say this is the real purpose and goal, but if that were the only motivation, there are many other ways to strive for it.
I'm thankful that there are more reasons to write than money, much more rewarding and tangible reasons. Every one has a story, they simply need to sit down and put pen to paper. It is the ultimate avenue for self-expression, a unique and personal art form.
